We are open 360 days a year.
We close five days a year New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

What do you do? We provide excellent customer service to help connect musicians (from potential to professional)
with what they need to enhance their music-making experience. We sell new and used guitars (both electric and acoustic), bass guitars, amplifiers, recording equipment, microphones, TONS of cables connectors and adaptors, accessories, tuners, metronomes, drum heads and accessories, violin strings, reeds and instruction books and DVDs and MORE!
Can you fix my guitar? If it’s fixable, we probably can! We have a full-time luthier (that’s someone who builds and repairs guitars) named Brian McGee and are we lucky to have him. If your guitar or bass needs new frets or a crack repaired or other heavy-duty shop time, then he’s your man too. When we have a 100 year-old Martin or an 80 year-old Gibson that needs attention, it goes to his capable hands. See his repair list and bio on the Guitar Repairs page.
If your instrument needs a checkup and setup, Jim Dennis can bring out its full potential. Since we get a lot of requests for this service it’s a good idea to email him to set up an appointment for your guitar or bass.
What is your layaway policy? 20% down payment and 90 days to pay it off. No interest. No payment schedule. If you make a deposit on an item and do not come back for it, you may forfeit your deposit.
Do you buy instruments? Sometimes, it depends on many factors. We can not tell you if we will buy your instrument without seeing it but please call us at 919.968.4411 to discuss it first. Right now we do not buy brass or woodwind instruments. We are more likely to take an instrument on trade for another. We also take instruments on consignment and will sell them for you. Why can’t I buy stuff on your website? We concentrate on face-to-face, high-quality service in our store. Every instrument is inspected and adjusted as needed by our staff before it is offered for sale. We do not just sell things out of a box like you get when you mail order. Also, we believe it is essential to play an instrument or amp to know if it is the right match for you. Everyday, we help people make smart, informed purchases by listening, asking questions and using our expertise that has come from many, many years of real world experience with instruments, recording and sound. Maybe we’re old-school but we don’t believe this can be done ordering on a website. Would you mail-order your spouse?
Do you sell needles for turntables? No. Sorry.
Do you teach lessons? No, but located right next door (actually, the door is on the left) to us is Creative Music Studios. They teach guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and other private instruction lessons. Visit their website for more information.
